A Collaboration with Isha Aran

Prep School is a graphic novel created in collaboration with my partner Isha Aran.

Set in the near future, four rebellious freshmen arrive at Prep School, a mysterious, experimental high school for doomsday preppers, and must navigate survival classes, hormones, and the end of the world as they know it.

Prep School is a product of many things, but especially the pandemic. Isha and I had conceptualized a story of a high school for preppers back in 2019.

 

Something about being stuck at home, haphazardly googling the best vegetables to grow on a NYC fire escape and generally apocalyptic vibe of March 2020 gave us clarity and impetus. The students of Prep School are the children born to our generation, tasked with what currently feels like the impossible:

Preparing for the Future.

Comics were originally posted on Instagram, and the first volume was later printed and bound at Risolana.
